[ why did she do that? she's not sure, not even now after the fact. she supposes she was curious — to see how he'd take it, to see if he'd let it slide — but she can't say for sure yet if that curiosity has been sated at all. the way he watches her, she can tell he's confused. but benny's always been too polite to properly rebuff someone anyway. ]
